Software Engineer - C C++

We are looking to grow our Carlsbad, CA based Engineering team. We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Software Engineer who is interested in working in a positive, energetic environment.

This is a mid-level position and would be responsible for supporting developments in Convera’s high performance and highly scalable vertical information acquisition and retrieval system. More specifically, this position will:

Implement fixes and enhancements to critical sub-systems of the platform
Maintain and enhance testing infrastructure used to ensure the quality of platform development
Develop necessary experience and skill sets to advance career objectives

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/abilities:

Able to implement complex software based on detailed design specifications with guidance
Able to maintain and support existing software with minimal guidance
Able to help diagnose and fix complex software issues with minimal guidance
Able to document specifications and code effectively
Able to follow the established software development practices
Able to execute established test procedures and processes for our products
Able to estimate rough level of effort required to complete assigned development tasks
Able to communicate and interact effectively in a team environment

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
2-5 years software development experience
Firm knowledge with programming languages C and C++
Solid experience working in a Linux development environment
Solid Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., bash, perl, csh)
Experience working in web crawling and search technologies is a significant plus
Experience working with Java is a plus
